WHAT DOES A SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER DO?
Special education teachers are responsible for assessing, instructing, and adapting learning for students with disabilities. Special education teachers are required to be knowledgeable and act as advocates, liaisons, and experts all at once. They may create or revise IEPs, collaborate with general education teachers, or differentiate instruction to allow all students access to information. With increasing numbers of students qualifying for special education programs and services, the importance of our teachers increases as well.
